Reader’s view: Voter ID push contradicts constitution’s purpose

The voter-restriction amendment is a blatant attempt to limit our constitutional right to vote. It is disenfranchisement and contrary to the purpose of our constitution, which is to protect rights, not take them away. This amendment could directly affect more than 700,000 Minnesota voters, especially seniors, people with low incomes, students and military personnel. Placing this barrier on our free and open elections is bad for our democracy.Word count: 195
