Bayfield focuses on student transitions

Published 11/04/2012, Duluth News Tribune

The Bayfield School District focused efforts on student school level transitions, including a kindergarten readiness program, sixth-grade orientation and ninth-grade transition into high school. Research indicates that students transitioning to a different school/academic level can struggle academically and socially, and Bayfield is no exception. Recent data collected from Youth Risk Behavior Surveys, School Climate surveys, as well as surveys from parents and community, all point to school level transitions as being particularly difficult for students and a concern for parents.
