Minnesotans rightfully can trumpet five examples of what Wallace Stegner, writer and conservationist, called “the best idea we ever had,” referring to America’s national parks. Our state has five national parks that attracted 554,400 visitors in 2011 and generated $31 million in economic benefit from tourism.Word count: 472
