Five years ago today, the Interstate 35W bridge spanning the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed. The steel and concrete structure fell into the river, killing 13 people and injuring 145 others. After the collapse, Minnesota lawmakers had no doubt that, as the owner of the bridge, the state would be at the center of a legal dispute.Word count: 498
