Local view: Congress needs to pass multi-year funding plan for infrastructure

Those of us who live and work in the Twin Ports know the importance of a healthy infrastructure. Our roads, bridges, airports, railways and harbors are lifelines of commerce and industry and the backbone for our economic vitality. However, we have our challenges also, with an aging water- distribution system, crumbling parking ramps and a seemingly endless need for road closures due to maintenance on our major highways. As Americans head into the start of the summer travel season they get the chance to experience surface infrastructure problems first-hand.
