Mesabi East seventh-grader spells her way to national bee

It took 32 rounds of progressively challenging words for a winner to be declared at the Multi-Regional State Spelling Bee held in Fergus Falls, Minn., but in the end, Emma Greenlee, a seventh-grader from Mesabi East in Aurora, was named champion. Emma successfully spelled zanzibari, an Arabic word that refers to a native of an East African island, to claim the championship.
