Spring watch: Everything is happening weeks early

The way the weather has been, it makes you wonder if we’re having spring or summer. Lakes north and west of the Twin Cities are losing their ice at record early dates, some of them as much as three weeks ahead of their average ice-out dates. Ice on some northern lakes has darkened and has separated from shore.
