Reader's view: Don’t single out wolves when talking about deer

Published 01/26/2012, Duluth News Tribune

I am responding to Sam Cook’s article on Jan. 7, “DNR seeks wolf hunt.” What did Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Tom Landwehr mean by a “trophy animal”? Was it akin to deer hunters who like to get 10-point bucks so they can mount the heads in their dens? Or was it in reference to trying to save our well-known wolves from being wiped out like they almost were many years ago?
