Reader's view: Ending animal abuse should be higher priority in Duluth

Animal cruelty and animal abuse are far reaching and prevalent in every city and country around the globe. Every day, everywhere, humans inflict harm on animals and mistreat animals for various reasons, and it has been statistically proven that men and boys are more likely to intentionally injure an animal than women. Most animals injured are companion animals like household pets. Studies suggest the abuse is because people lack social responsibility. Some even cause suffering intentionally because they enjoy it.
