Local view: Dangers of sulfide mining being swept under the rug

According to Friends of the Boundary Waters, sulfide mining has “caused environmental and financial problems all over the world.” The group states this type of mining contaminates drinking water and destroys fish and wildlife habitats. Oftentimes, sulfide-mining companies go bankrupt, leaving local taxpayers with millions of dollars in clean-up costs.Word count: 640
