Reader's view: Hold representatives responsible for clean air

In November, the U.S. Senate defeated an extreme proposal that would have removed important air-quality regulations in place by the Environmental Protection Agency. The bill, championed by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., would have blocked an EPA standard that cut down on the amounts of dangerous pollution carried over state lines. States that refused to clean up emissions would have been allowed to let their air pollution cross into other states, delivering soot, smog, and acid rain to all Americans.
