Reader's view: School levy question written to urge ‘no’ vote

After voting on Election Day, I presented the text of the school-funding proposal to my freshman composition class. They recently finished a paper where I asked them to stay fair to both sides of an argument. I told them to read the questions that appeared on the Duluth ballot, and then I asked them the same question I asked during their assignment: “Does this stay neutral?” The unanimous answer was “no.”Word count: 275
