In response: Focus on the truth of ‘Pocahontas,’ not the ethnic origin of its artists

As the opinions of Fond du Lac musician Lyz Jaakola were the sole source of criticism levied against the Duluth Festival Opera’s Midwestern premiere of “Pocahontas,” in a front-page article Monday by the News Tribune’s Christa Lawler, I appreciate the opportunity to respond. For the record, there are five Fond du Lac musicians and dancers who are performing traditional tribal music in the production.
