Reader's view: Get all the facts before damaging reputations

An immediate response is necessary to the Aug. 22 story, “Critics put spotlight on UMD arts dean’s spending.” The reporters talked to a few anonymous students and faculty but neglected to contact those of us who know a great deal about Jack Bowman’s overall contribution to the community. Since 2002, I’ve witnessed firsthand the tireless dedication Bowman has to the School of Fine Arts, the University of Minnesota Duluth and the city of Duluth. How else to explain his efforts to turn the financial drain at Glensheen into a positive by taking on additional responsibilities?
