After 34 years of successfully directing more than 100,000 runners the 26.2 miles from Two Harbors to Duluth, the Grandma’s Marathon event has now experienced a fatality: Norman Ruth of Hermantown succumbed to personal health issues during the June 19 running of the Garry Bjorklund Half-Marathon (“Grandma’s death was Hermantown man, 64,” June 21, and “Family: Heart attack was lying in wait,” June 22).Word count: 273
