Northland EMS providers eye new ways to recoup mounting expenses

It doesn’t take long for an ambulance run to get expensive. But falling reimbursement rates from Medicare and Medicaid are causing a problem, EMS workers say. “Depending on the age of the individual, we may recoup all of the bill, some of the bill, or none of the bill,” one local official said.
