Dried up and frozen up are two things wetlands need

WORTHINGTON — As of Wednesday, there was still almost no snow. This is good or bad depending on whether you just bought a new snowmobile. What is happening with no snow is either good or bad depending on who you ask. In the world of nature, what is happening now and what happened last fall is a normal part of the natural cycle. I have written many times about the benefit fire has on native prairies. In the pre-settlement days, lightning started lots of fires and I can only imagine how many miles they burned uninterrupted before they were naturally extinguished by terrain or another rain shower. Today you need to schedule and plan for a prairie fire in order to make one happen.
