Editorial: These local topics are worth noting

Published 10/28/2010, River Falls Journal

--A glorious tradition keeps getting better and better as the River Falls Marching Wildcats Band won another state title earlier this month in Whitewater. That makes four state titles in a row, which is incredible. Even more incredible is that the band has won this title in its class 16 times in 25 years! And, in many of the “off-years,” the marching band finished near the top. Bryan Jaeckel and Joe Coughlin have managed to finesse the winning tradition year after year — a tradition that began under the tutelage of LeRoy Lee in the 1980s. Lee built up the program before retiring in 2000. Credit also must go to the parenting network — the Band Boosters — for devoted support of the marching band and its longstanding excellence.
