An outage and fall cleaning

Published 11/16/2011, Park Rapids Enterprise

Itasca-Mantrap Power Co-op crews converged at the Mantrap Substation Monday to repair a voltage regulator that caused a massive outage Saturday night. At 11 p.m. a motorist reported an arc when a voltage regulator blew at the facility on County Roads 4 and 40. Nearly 2,200 customers lost power for just over an hour, I-M official Jared Echternach said. The voltage regulator was replaced Monday morning. Then crews gave the substation a thorough scrub-down, using Dawn dish soap. Fire crews were called to the scene Saturday but just stood by as a precaution.
