Park Rapids seniors headed to national speech competition

Published 03/26/2011, Park Rapids Enterprise

Luke Swenson and Jason Dennis will head to Dallas, Texas June 13 for the national speech competition. The seniors placed second in duo interpretation at a recent qualifying tournament. Their speech is called “The Devil in Sherman Marsh,” by Don Zolidis, which is about a kid who gives his soul to the devil in exchange for having a girl he is infatuated with fall in love with him. The duo has begun fundraising for their trip to Dallas and will have a fundraiser performance at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Bella Caffé. They will also be selling hot dogs at Northern Bait and Tackle during the fishing opener. Those who would like to donate to the students can reach Sandy Aldrich, forensics coach, at saldrich@parkrapids.k12.mn.us.
