Park Rapids Garden Club sale perennials disappeared quickly

The Park Rapids Garden Club held its annual plant sale and fundraiser Saturday morning. A large crowd had already begun buying when the gates opened at 8 a.m. Lois Just was looking over the selections of sun plants. Garden Club members had the plants divided into two displays, one for plants that required full sun and the other for shade varieties. Just is a regular shopper at the sale. “They always have a nice variety,” she said. “I always find something.” Garden Club members were on hand to give tips on how and where to plant the perennials and how tall each would grow. “We usually have a good turnout early,” said club member Marge Hoff, who was answering the same question over and over, “How tall will this get?” The club uses the funds for college scholarships for local students. Many of the buyers professed to be regulars at the sale. The stock is always healthy, and having a professional on hand to give tips is the best way for novice gardeners to get started, one couple said.Word count: 0
