Branches snap off trees and cause power outages here

One species of tree is responsible for most of the downed branches and power lines in Jamestown following the wet snowfall of Wednesday night, according to Vern Quam, forester for the city of Jamestown. “I would say the silver maples make up about 90 to 95 percent of the down branches,” he said. “They are kind of a weak-wooded tree.”Word count: 456
