Former Minot State player sentenced

Published 07/14/2009, The Jamestown Sun

Authorities say a former Minot State football player has been sentenced to a year and a day in prison on a drug conspiracy charge. The U.S. attorney’s office said 20-year-old Thomas Scher of Winnipeg was involved in a scheme with another student last year in which the two bought about 20 handguns and took them to the Winnipeg area. Authorities said the guns were traded for cash and the drug ecstasy.
