Commission calls off burn ban after more than 1/2 inch of rain

Published 05/31/2008, The Jamestown Sun

A quorum of Stutsman County Commissioners rescinded the burning ban that they placed on May 20. The three commissioners present, Craig Neyes, Denny Ova and Doug Kaiser, voted during a special meeting Friday afternoon to allow open burning until their regular meeting June 17, unless conditions warrant a change. “Since the burn ban went in effect there have been eight fires,” said Jerry Bergquist, Stutsman County emergency manager. “Three out of the eight were controlled burns set during the burn ban.”
