Nething won’t seek re-election to Legislature

A fixture of the North Dakota Legislature for nearly a half century is retiring from the Senate. Sen. Dave Nething, Republican from District 12, is not seeking re-election this fall. He will complete his term, which runs through Dec. 1. “Since my first election in 1966 — 46 years ago — I have tried to serve my constituents by being rational, logical, steady, results-oriented, tolerant and to be a problem solver not a problem maker,” he said. “Some would say this would classify me as a moderate.”Word count: 622
