Letter to the editor: New library project will have to take a new direction

Published 03/28/2011, The Jamestown Sun

Webster’s dictionary defines “community” as “any group living in the same area who have interests, work in common.” All of us here in Stutsman County fit this description, although we do strain the definition from time to time over what should be the key interests, and what should be the work we pursue first. The recent City Council vote rejecting the James River Library System Board’s request for permission to purchase the Essentia site as the home of a new library is a perfect example of this and is worth examining if we are serious about being a healthy, working community.
