Smoking report shows ‘major gap’ in N.D.

A new report on state tobacco control programs reveals a “major gap” in North Dakota’s efforts to discourage smoking among youths and adults, says the head of a statewide anti-smoking group. The report, released Tuesday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shows the smoking rate among ages 12 to 17 topped the national average in both North Dakota and Minnesota.Word count: 630
