For a long time I pondered the worth of the mosquito, and then while in college I read Mark Twain’s “Letters From The Earth,” and in the section called “The Damned Human Race,” Twain asked the same question about the housefly. He didn’t come up with a definitive answer either, except to point out that God had a strange way of doing business in allowing the housefly to wreak havoc on other animals of the earth.Word count: 702
