Wet fall hurts beet harvest

A wet fall has hurt the Minn-Dak Farmers Cooperative sugar beet harvest in the southern Red River Valley. Wahpeton-based Minn-Dak harvested 85 percent of its planted acres this year, up from 70 percent a year ago, when conditions were even wetter. But the co-op said the sugar content of this year’s beets dropped sharply.Word count: 85
