Mother in SD homicide case jailed on Minnesota charges
Kelly Anderson-Person, 35, of Hendricks, formerly of Clarkfield, is serving consecutive sentences totaling 120 days after pleading guilty Tuesday in Yellow Medicine County District Court to a gross misdemeanor charge of child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of violating an order to have no contact with the child.
In August, two South Dakota officers were at her Clarkfield home to question Anderson-Person in the homicide case. The infants’ remains were found in 2012 in Deuel County, S.D.
She pulled a revolver from under a sofa cushion as she sat holding her then 9-month-old daughter. The officers wrestled away the revolver, and it discharged into the ceiling.
Anderson-Person is the biological mother of the deceased infants. She told the officers she gave birth to them in 2009 and 2011 while living in Hendricks near the South Dakota state line and disposed of the bodies, according to court documents.
The no-contact violation was for mailing a Valentine’s Day card to her daughter in care of the child’s father. The girl lives with her father, and he is seeking a divorce.
