Milwaukee woman charged with prostitution in Fargo

FARGO – A Milwaukee woman was charged Thursday with working as a prostitute in Fargo.

Summer Hope Burks, 20, was charged Thursday in Cass County District Court with one count of prostitution, a Class B misdemeanor.

According to an FBI record filed with the complaint, Burks was interviewed March 26 by agents and Fargo Police Department officers at the south Fargo apartment of one of her customers.

Burks arrived in Fargo that morning via Amtrak after the customer purchased a train ticket for her.

Burks reportedly told investigators she preferred to conduct her business at the man’s apartment rather than hotels because there were no cameras there.

The FBI record also states Burks had traveled to Fargo five times since Jan. 10, having previously met customers through Backpage.com.

FBI spokesman Kyle Loven said he could not comment on details of the investigation.

Cass County prosecutor Tristan Van de Streek said the FBI’s involvement was based on a possible report of a juvenile being involved in prostitution.

He said there is no evidence that occurred in this case.

Burks’ first court appearance has not been set.
