Weather Talk: Develop plan now to deal with bad summer weatherThis is Severe Summer Weather Awareness Week in North Dakota.
The most important thing you can do to prepare for severe summer weather is to plan for it. When the warning sirens are going off is not the time to decide what to do. Now is the time to develop and discuss a plan within your family and your place of business.
What is necessary for you do in a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch? What is the plan for a really bad storm or a tornado? If you need to take shelter, is that shelter area ready? Does that location need any supplies?
Should a weather disaster happen, electricity and cellphones often cannot be depended on, so where will you and your family meet?
To actually be in a tornado disaster in not a common experience and hopefully it will not happen to you. But I encourage everyone to think about and discuss these things just in case.
