Business briefs (April 26)NDSU to honor alumni Thursday at Fargodome
The North Dakota State University 2014 alumni awards celebration is set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Fargodome. This year’s honorees include:
• Alumni Achievement: Garry Higdem, Castle Rock, Colo., (1975, bachelor’s, civil engineering), president of Parsons Construction Group and former project executive on the Panama Canal expansion project; and Sandy Fiechtner, New York City, (1979, bachelor’s, home economics), founder of Sandy Fiechtner Human Resources Consulting and Coaching, former human resources executive with Pfizer and consultant with Hess Corp.
• Henry L. Bolley Academic Achievement Award: Darrell F. Strobel, Baltimore (1964, bachelor’s physics), professor, John Hopkins University Departments of Earth and Planetary Science and Physics and Astronomy, principal professional staff, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
• Heritage Award for Alumni Service: Gary W. Boehler, Plymouth, Minn., (1970, bachelor’s, pharmacy), Pharmacy National Advisory Board, driving force behind the support for the Thrifty White Concept Pharmacy Instructional Laboratory and telepharmacy program, former executive vice president of pharmacy operations, Thrifty White.
• Horizon Award: Amy Uthus, Des Moines, Iowa, (2007, bachelor’s, art and English), artist-in-residence at RDG Dahlquist Art Studio, completed a residency at Guldagergaard International Ceramics Research Center, Skælskør, Denmark, and four solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions.

Construction trades academy set at MSCTC
The Herdina Academy for Construction Trades will be June 2-13 at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Moorhead.
The two-week session runs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and a certified instructor supervises activities.
The academy is open to North Dakota and Minnesota students ages 15 and older. Students who successfully complete the academy will earn three college credits from MSCTC that can be used for the carpentry, plumbing, refrigeration and air conditioning or mechanical CAD programs at MSCTC.

Retirement party set for Dilworth’s Parke
The city of Dilworth will host a retirement party for City Administrator Ken Parke from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Dilworth City Hall Council Chambers.
Parke has worked for the city for more than 34 years, starting in 1979 as finance officer. He was named city administrator in 1994.
Credit union celebrating its 60th anniversary
Freedom Community Credit Union will be celebrating its 60th anniversary Tuesday.
The member-owned financial institution started in 1954 as the North Dakota Air National Guard Credit Union. The current CEO is Mary Hagen.
The credit union has branches at 2940 N. University Drive and at 4505 47th Ave. S., both in Fargo.
