Jackson promoted to manager at BCBSND

Amber Jackson has been promoted to Caring Foundation and communications projects manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota.

Jackson started her BCBSND career in 2012 as creative services project coordinator in the communications department.

She graduated from Concordia College with degrees in marketing and business management.

Western hires Kommer as CAO/general counsel

Michelle Kommer has joined Western State Bank, West Fargo, as chief administrative officer/

general counsel. She previously served in executive leadership positions at Noridian/Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and Otter Tail Corp. as the senior vice president of human resources. She also has prior experience in bank operations, and bank and government auditing.

Originally from Fargo, Kommer received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mayville (N.D.) State University. She earned a master’s degree in management from the University of Mary, Fargo, and a law degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks.

Village Family Service Center hires three

The Village Family Service Center has hired Mandy Bernardy as a counselor in the Moorhead area, Kalea Morlock as a family-based therapist in Fargo and Eryn Jager in client service support for regional counseling services and the clinical nurse specialist.

Bernardy received bachelor and master’s degrees in social work from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. She previously worked for PATH and specialized in therapy for children and families in therapeutic foster care.

Morlock graduated from UND with a degree in human development and from Denver Seminary with a master’s degree in social work. She completed her internship at Lakeland Mental Health Center, Moorhead.

Jager has a bachelor’s degree in psychology/criminal justice and is a certified pharmacy technician. She has a master’s degree in human development and family sciences.

Houston Engineering adds stockholders

Houston Engineering Inc. has added Chris Otterness and Jeff Lansink as stockholders.

Otterness is a native of Wisconsin and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. He has worked as a civil engineer for 16 years, including six years with HEI.

Lansink is originally from Burnsville, Minn., and he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He worked for the North Dakota Department of Transportation before joining HEI in 2002.

The firm has offices in Fargo, Bismarck, Dickinson and Minot, all in North Dakota, and in Barnesville, Maple Grove and Thief River Falls, all in Minnesota.

CoreLink hires Bozarth as business analyst

CoreLink Administrative Solutions, Fargo, has hired Mark Bozarth as a business system analyst I.

Bozarth earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Nebraska. He has been involved in the health care industry for the past 13 years and was previously employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska.

Allstate Peterbilt hires Gary as sales rep

Allstate Peterbilt, Fargo, has hired Dean Gary as a new and used truck sales representative for the southeast territory, which includes portions of North Dakota, South Dakota and western Minnesota.

Gary has 28 years of experience in the truck industry, including 13 years in truck service and 16 years in class 8, medium duty and service truck sales.

He is a graduate of the North Dakota State College of Science.

Fargo Housing Authority promotes 2, hires 1

The Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority has promoted Kari Holmstrom to compliance officer/property manager and Katie Schatzke to assistant property manager for the scattered sites.

Stacie Johnson has been hired as an FSS coordinator for public housing.

Holmstrom has been with FHRA since 2011, first working as the homeless coordinator and in 2012 she transferred to the tax credit sites as the property manager.

Schatzke has been with FHRA since 2011, first as the assistant property manager for the tax credit properties and in 2012 she transferred to the accounting department as the accounts payable clerk.

Johnson previously worked in Fargo for Jenny Craig and as a case manager at Fraser Ltd.

Mani joins Essentia Heart, Vascular Center

Dr. Saraswathy Manickavasagam, who goes by Dr. Sara Mani, has joined the cardiac electrophysiology department at Essentia Health’s Heart and Vascular Center, Fargo.

Mani earned a medical degree from Trivandrum Medical College at the University of Kerala Trivandrum in Kerala, India.

She completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, and fellowships in electrophysiology and cardiovascular disease at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.

Savageau promoted at Edward Jones office

Laurie Savageau has been promoted to senior branch office administrator at the Troy Ivesdal branch office of financial services firm Edward Jones, 1533 S. University Drive, Fargo.

Savageau has been employed with Edward Jones for four years.

Three new employees at Discovery Benefits

Discovery Benefits in Fargo has hired Bradley Nelson as a benefit account manager, Jeff Tonn as a COBRA/

billing solutions operations specialist and Ayat Otolorin as a benefit operations specialist.

First International Bank & Trust promotes Toy

Michael Toy has been named chief operating and strategy officer at First International Bank & Trust. He works at the bank’s branch at 3001 25th St. S., Fargo.

Toy began his career at First International Bank and Trust in 2007. Most recently, he was the chief operations and chief information officer.

Four new employees at Appareo Systems

Appareo Systems, Fargo, has hired Janet Brilz and Bernell Gange as manufacturing assemblers, Mike Szafranski as a manufacturing engineer and Derick Hermanson as a software engineer.

Brilz is originally from Wimbledon, N.D., and has more than 20 years of experience in manufacturing, most recently with Case New Holland, Fargo.

Gange is currently pursuing a degree from Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Moorhead. A native of Drake, N.D., she has more than 10 years of manufacturing experience at Cardinal Insulated Glass, Fargo.

Szafranski earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from NDSU. A native of St. Cloud, Minn., he previously worked at Daktronics, Brookings, S.D.

Hermanson earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Minnesota State University Moorhead. He is currently pursuing a computer science degree at MSUM. A native of Mandan, N.D., he previously worked at Dakota Air Parts and Doosan, Fargo.

Heemstra promoted to product manager

First Avenue Promotional Products, Moorhead, has promoted Deacon Heemstra from screen printer to production manager.

Heemstra has been with the company for a year.

Western State Bank hires credit analyst

Josh Schwarz has joined Western State Bank in West Fargo as a credit analyst.

Schwarz has more than nine years of experience in the banking industry, previously serving as business development manager at Deere Employees Credit Union, Fargo. Originally from Jamestown, N.D., he earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Northern State University, Aberdeen, S.D.

Noridian promotes Wermager to manager

Wayne Wermager has been promoted to manager of the vendor management office in enterprise corporate services at Noridian Mutual Insurance Co., Fargo.

He started his NMIC career in 2007 as a staff analyst in NMIC information technology operations and was promoted to service level agreement manager in 2008. In 2013, he became the vendor contract administrator/team lead in the vendor management office.

Wermager received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Credit Collections Bureau promotes three

The Credit Collections Bureau has promoted Brady Owens, Fargo, to collection representative and Ashley Grace and Bekka Benson, both of Fargo, to collection associates.

Owens was also named to the Quarter Million Dollar Club.

Cornerstone Bank hires Eide as credit specialist

Andrea Eide has joined Cornerstone Bank as a credit administration specialist at the branch on 45th Street South in Fargo.

Eide has been working with Cornerstone Bank on the Accuaccount conversion.

TMI Hospitality hires Wald in development

Jodee Wald has joined TMI Hospitality in Fargo as an administrative assistant to the development department.

Wald graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and a minor in hospitality and tourism management.

Before joining TMI Hospitality, she served as an administrative assistant for Bank of the West, Fargo.

Intelligent InSites hires Lerum as VP of services

Chris Lerum has joined Intelligent InSites, Fargo, as vice president of services. He previously worked at Microsoft as senior director of global partner services.

Lerum has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. He began working at Great Plains in Fargo in 1991 and has been with Microsoft since its acquisition of Great Plains in 2001.

Red River Broadcast names director of sales

Doug McMonagle has joined Red River Broadcast as director of sales.

McMonagle began his career in radio and moved into the television broadcast business in the late 1980s. He worked for 14 years as sales manager at KMSP, Minneapolis. In 2003, he joined Clear Channel Television and helped create its Inergize Digital Division.

Red River Broadcast owns KVRR-TV Fox Fargo, KQDS-TV Fox Duluth, and KDLT-TV NBC Sioux Falls.
