1964 Cobbers, two prep athletes to be honoredMINNEAPOLIS – Brett Brenden of Rothsay, Michael Strand of Barnesville and the 1964 Concordia football team will be honored at the Minnesota Chapter of the National Football Foundation annual Minnesota Football honors awards banquet to be held May 4 in Minneapolis.
Brenden and Strand are two of eight high school scholar athletes who will be honored. The honorees had to post a cumulative grade point average of 3.9 or better.
The 1964 Concordia football team will receive the 2014 Murray Warmath Legendary Team award. The 1964 Cobbers, coached by Jake Christiansen, won the NAIA national championship, posting a 10-0-1 record.
