Oil train car fire in Moorhead turns out to be false alarmMOORHEAD – A call from a concerned citizen about a possible oil train car fire here turned out to be a false alarm, according to Dilworth police official who responded to the scene.
The call came in around noon after a citizen near Target, 3301 Highway 10, thought there were flames coming from the axle of an oil train car, said Hunter Rawson, a Dilworth police investigator.
After police and fire crews responded, they didn’t find a fire, but they did see some bright, fluorescent orange flags blowing near the train tracks, Rawson said.
“(The flags) are level with the train cars and that could be mistakenly seen as a fire,” Rawson said.
Rawson said BNSF officials are still double checking the scene.
“But no fire that we’ve seen,” he said.
