Style Profile: Practical, relaxed style for mom and son
The 17-month-old toddler has a collection of shoes that rivals that of an adult. He can thank his mom, Kari Ahrens, for the early start in fashion.
I spotted the duo at Moxie Java here in casual, layered attire. Little Colin was especially proud of his Brickyard Buffalo T-shirt that reads, “Go ahead, swoon.”
Describe your style. I’m classic, I pretty much always wear a cardigan and skinny jeans with Toms or moccasins.
Colin is way trendier.
What are you wearing today? My cardigan is from Gap, tank from Nordstrom, Levi’s jeans, H&M shoes and Forever 21 jewelry.
Colin’s wearing pants from H&M, an American Apparel cardigan, a Brickyard Buffalo T-shirt and a Gap cardigan.
Do you have a style icon? I don’t really have one; I usually look at Pinterest and blogs for inspiration.
But I definitely have one for Colin! There’s a little boy named Alonso Mateo, and his mom’s a stylist. She posts photos of him on Pinterest and Instagram. He wears the cutest things.
Where do you shop? I shop a lot at Target, H&M, Gap and Forever 21, just for the trendy things.
I find a lot of Colin’s clothes online at Etsy, Gap, H&M and American Apparel.
What are your favorite things in your closet and Colin’s? I love Colin’s green pants and the shirt he’s wearing today. He also has a pair of green Toms that are adorable.
For me, I love my scarves and super-comfy high-waisted Levi’s.
If you had an unlimited amount of money, what would you splurge on for yourself and Colin? I’d buy myself some designer denim, and for Colin, I’d buy a pair of Freshly Picked Moccasins (handmade moccasins).
