Moorhead police investigating heavy damage to vehicles after reports of shootingMOORHEAD – Police here responded to a reported shooting late Saturday, but officers instead are now investigating vehicle damage that apparently wasn’t caused by a gun.
Lt. Chris Carey said late Saturday that the Moorhead Police Department received the report of a shooting in the 1500 block of Fifth Avenue South around 10:40 p.m. On arrival, officers found broken glass and “heavy” damage to vehicles in the area.
“It came out as a shooting, but there’s no evidence to support there was a shooting,” he said Saturday night.
Officers stayed on scene late to investigate the area.
Sgt. Steve Larson said there wasn’t much new information on the incident by Sunday afternoon, other than the department was continuing to look into it.
“It’s still under investigation, but there were no shots fired that we could verify,” he said.
