Moorhead

Coach: Mike Thompson (1st year)

Last season: Third-place finish in Class 2A, Section 8

Who’s gone: Adam Hanson (110 and 300-meter hurdles); Chase Morlock (100-meter dash,

400-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay).

Key returners: Brett Lawrence, Sr. (state participant in 400-meter dash); Brady Andersen, Sr. (100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 400-meter relay); Luke Lillehaugen, Jr. (400-meter dash, 800-meter run).

Coach’s comments: “Several returners with varsity experience. Brett Lawrence and Brady Andersen have the potential to be hearing their names called on finals day of the state meet and the return of Jacob Odegard and Jade Lawrence should make for a very talented Spuds 400-meter relay.”

Moorhead Park Christian

Coach: Megan Endreson (6th year)

Last season: Pine to Prairie Conference champions

Who’s gone: Simeon Reiswig; Adam Lutz; David Tompkins.

Key returners: Matt Moberg, Sr. (signed with North Dakota State for track); Hunter Nickel, Sr. (participant in Hamline Elite Meet in high jump); Austin Daugherty, Sr.; Zach Kvalvog, Soph.

Coach’s comments: “We will definitely be missing our power sprinters that graduated last year, but we are excited about how our boys are going to perform this year. We have some great senior leadership and our younger guys have been working hard and improving early in the season.”

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton

Last season: Sub-section champions, Class 1A, Section 6 true team champion, eighth-place finish at State True Team meet and Class 1A, Section 8 individual runner-up

This year’s turnout is one of the best in D-G-F history and should provide team depth in all events. Goals for the upcoming season include success within the Heart O’ Lakes Conference, at both the True Team and individual sectionals, and solid performances against state-level competition.”

Fargo Davies

Coach: Paul Lean (4th year)

Last year’s finish: 8th place at Class A state meet

Coach’s comments: “The team has worked extremely hard the last few years. We have great leadership and the team members realize their roles on the team. One thing that stands out about this team is they are able to score in all events and our depth is also going to help us out this season.”

Fargo South

Coach: Cameron Dockter (4th year)

Last year’s finish: 9th at Class A state meet

Coach’s comments: “I like the balance of our team. Several athletes have had a good offseason preparing to provide some depth in other events. The strength of our team will be our distance athletes. Our sprinters are young, but give us good opportunities in those events and short relays.”

Fargo North

Coach: Gary Mailloux (45th year)

Last year’s finish: 5th place at Class A state meet

Who’s gone: Jonathan Bell-Clement, Andy Ficek, Keith Lehman, Peter Saintal, Waha Sem (800-meter relay champion), DeSean Thompson (800-meter relay champion), Andrew Uglem, Andrew Weist, Grant Goldader, Michael Hass, Hunter Martineau, Zane Miller, Alex Piepkorn, Robert Ramirez, Jeremiah Williams, Andrew Smith.

Coach’s comments: “We presently have a squad of 50-plus boys in grades 9-12 and nearly two thirds of that group are freshmen and sophomores. We are extremely excited with the level of enthusiasm and work ethic that has permeated in the daily efforts of the team. Much of the season will be spent experimenting with our personnel to find places where each of them will be most successful.”

Fargo Shanley

Coach: Barry Anderson (20th year)

Last year’s finish: 10th place at Class A state meet

Coach’s comments: “We have several athletes who scored at the state meet last year returning to the team. Strengths will be our jumping events and distance races with an improving group of throwers. We have good depth and a balance in our scoring.”

Fargo Oak Grove

Co-coaches: Janice Stoa and Nick Wright (1st year)

Last year’s finish: Tied for 28th place at Class B state meet.

Who’s gone: Hunter Gossett, Jacob Olson, Jordan Funfar

Key returners: Austin Promersberger, Sr.; Tucker Schoenfish, Sr.; Collin Asheim, Sr.; David Peterson, Sr.; Jeffrey Lackmann, Sr.; Colton Pierce, Sr.

Coach’s comments: “We are in a rebuilding year with over half of the athletes on our team coming from middle school,” Stoa said. “We have excellent senior leadership and are striving for continued improvement throughout the season.”

West Fargo

Coach: Darin McKinnon (18th year)

Last year’s finish: Runners-up at Class A state meet, East Region champions

Who’s gone: Darin Baltezore (3,200-meter runner up), Jaime Heinen-Lugert (long jump state champion, triple jump runner-up), Chaz Gunderson, Jordan Bishoff (high jump state champion), Caleb Mattila (Javelin runner-up).

Key returners: Daniel Asa, Sr.; Griffin Sauvageau, Sr.; Brenda Walker, Jr.; Alex Talley, Soph.

Coach’s comments: “We have a lot of youth and inexperience after graduating 18 seniors from last year’s team. Our depth will be distance races on the track and throwing events in the field.”
