Lightning's Malone arrested on DUI, cocaine chargesTampa Bay Lightning left wing Ryan Malone was arrested Saturday morning in Tampa, Fla., on driving under the influence and cocaine possession charges.
Malone, 34, was arrested at 3:23 a.m. and had blood-alcohol content levels of .112 and .116, according to his booking information. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
Malone, 34, was booked at 5:40 a.m. and released at 9:56 a.m. after posting a $2,500 bond, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department website.
A Tampa police officer saw Malone hit a curb while driving and pulled him over. The officer found cocaine in his pants pocket, according to WFLA-TV.
"We are aware of the situation concerning Ryan Malone this morning," Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement. "Ryan will not travel with the team to Washington (Saturday), but beyond that we cannot comment further at this time."
Malone was scratched from Friday's 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. He has not played since April 5. He has five goals and 10 assists in 57 games this season.
Malone has spent the past six seasons with the Lightning after playing the first four years with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played for Team USA at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
