Four more candidates file for Fargo School Board race

FARGO – Four more candidates filed Monday to enter a crowded race for the Fargo School Board, bringing to 11 the number of people vying for the five seats up for election this June.

Filing before Monday’s 4 p.m. deadline were:

  • Rebecca Knutson, owner of Rebecca Knutson Consulting.

  • Ahmed Kamel, an associate professor of computer science and management information systems at Concordia College.

  • Marty Livingood, who works for Cengage Learning.

  • Brian Martin, a principal partner in Martin Mechanical Design Inc., Fargo.

    Incumbents Linda Boyd and President Dinah Goldenberg are seeking re-election.

    Others who have also filed for the board are: Tyler Anderson, Jennifer Benson, Scott Dahms, Terri-Lee James and David Peterson.

    Three of the seats on the board will not be defended by incumbents.

    Kris Wallman is running for the state House of Representatives. Rick Steen is running for a seat on the Cass County Commission. Rusty Papachek said he will focus on other pursuits.

    School Board seats have four-year terms.

    The nine members of the school board are paid $1,000 a month.
