Style Profile: Fashion student debuts simple, fun spring style
In preparation, the 19-year-old is studying fashion at North Dakota State University and practicing her French.
I spotted Hylland downtown near Island Park drinking coffee before she left to work at Loft in the West Acres Shopping Mall.
In a cream and white ensemble, Hylland told me she was debuting her spring wardrobe in hopes the weather would follow.
Describe your style. Simple but fun.
What are you wearing today? My whole outfit is from Loft.
Where do you shop? Loft, Kittson, J.Crew, downtown boutiques, Nasty Gal and Planet Blue.
Who are your style icons? I admire Lauren Conrad’s style and what she’s done in her career so far. Her style is simple and classic.
What’s your favorite thing in your closet? My black blazer because it goes with everything.
What’s always in your purse? Gum, a pen and studded earrings. You never know when you’ll need earrings.
What’s the weirdest thing in your closet? Costumes. I wear some of the accessories daily though, like a headband from one Halloween costume.
Where are you favorite cities for fashion? Stockholm and Paris.
Swedish people have super simple style and rework pieces.
Paris is the fashion capital of the world, and Parisians have so much confidence.
What’s your fashion philosophy? Don’t be afraid to try new things.
What trends are you excited to try for summer? High-waisted shorts and skirts with crop tops.
What’s the worst fashion offense you’ve seen in Fargo? Socks with Sperry’s (boat shoes) or Crocs.
