Kent State in Ohio placed on lockdown after shot fired on campusKent State University in northeastern Ohio was put on lockdown on Wednesday night after a man fired a single gun shot into the ground on campus and then fled, a school spokesman said.
No one was injured in the incident that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. local time near Bowman Hall, an academic building, Kent State spokesman Eric Mansfield said.
An alert telling the school to shelter in place was posted on the school's website soon after the incident.
The suspect, believed to be carrying a silver handgun fled the area, Mansfield said.
