NDHSCA advances 16 coaches as national finalistsFARGO – The North Dakota High School Coaches Association announced Tuesday that 16 coaches from various high schools as finalists for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association national coach of the year in their respective sports.
The finalists from North Dakota are: Lorell Jungling, Mandan (athletic director); Ryam Brantl, Thompson (baseball); Dan Carr, Linton (boys basketball); Brian Anderson, New Town (boys cross country); Scott Reichenberger, Bismarck (girls cross country); Dan Imdieke, Linton (football); Dean Hashbarger, Fargo South (soccer); Mike Bisenius, Grand Forks Red River (softball); Mike Merritt, Fargo South (special sports); Brent Newman, Grand Forks (swimming and diving); Victor Youngs, Fargo South (tennis); Scott Grochow, Rugby (girls track and field); Greg Hoeckle. Carrington (boys track and field); Lisa Strand, Thompson (volleyball); William Uscensky, Minot (boys sport assistant coach) and Mark Murdock, Bismarck Century (girls sport assistant coach).
The nominees were selected by the NDHSCA executive committee based on longevity, service to high school athletics, honors, championships and winning percentages through the 2012-13 season.
Winners will be announced at the NHSACA national convention June 18 in Jackson Hole, Wyo.
