Letter: Special Olympics says thank youOn behalf of Special Olympics North Dakota, I would like to thank the following facilities for allowing Special Olympics to use their facilities this past weekend: Bishop Ryan Catholic School, Burdick Job Corps Center, Minot Auditorium and the Minot State University Dome; also, the many businesses that made donations for the tournament.
I would also like to thank the following groups for their time: Bishop Ryan Assistant Chaplains Group and students, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Garrison Legion Auxiliary, Magic City Lions Club, Minot Air Force Base, Minot Fire Department, Minot High School French Club, Minot Minotauros Hockey, Minot Police Department, Minot State University clubs, fraternity and sorority, Monday Night Bible Study Group from Our Lady of Grace, REACT (Communications/Medical Services), RSVP+, special guests, Target employees, Ward County Sheriff’s Department and the Special Olympics North Dakota staff.
There were also more than 300 volunteers from Minot, Minot Air Force Base personnel (the many), Minot State University basketball players/coaches and NDHSAA registered basketball officials who volunteered their time and expertise to help make this a unique and special basketball tournament for approximately 450 athletes and coaches from 11 youth teams and 36 open adult teams from North Dakota, Montana and Canada. Thanks to all of you.
Special Olympics North Dakota’s Summer Games is in Fargo on May 30-31, soccer/bocce in Grand Forks on Sept. 13-14 and bowling in Mandan on Nov. 1-2. If you have some knowledge of the sport and a few extra hours a week, there are many athletes who would greatly appreciate your help.
