Opening arguments in Willmar teen's murder trial likely to be FridayWILLMAR, Minn. -- The trial of Brok Junkermeier, accused of first-degree murder in the death of Lila Warwick, 79, at her Willmar home, is set to begin today with opening statements and witness testimony.
Junkermeier, 19, of Willmar, is accused of strangling and stabbing Warwick on July 29 and has been in custody on $2 million bail since last summer.
Preliminary jury instructions and opening statements from the attorneys are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. today in the Kandiyohi County Courthouse in Willmar before Eighth District Judge Donald Spilseth.
Witness testimony also will begin today. Court will recess for the weekend in the early afternoon.
