NDSU’s McClellan, Lillejord earn Summit track honorsFARGO – Two North Dakota State track and field athletes received the Summit’s highest indoor honor on Wednesday. Maddie McClellan was named the women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and Andy Lillejord was named the men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year.
Lillejord, a senior from Jamestown, N.D., won the long jump in the league indoor meet and qualified 13th in the country in the NCAA Championships, but had to withdraw because of injury.
McClellan, a junior from Perham, Minn., became the third female in league history to sweep the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters.
