Weekend Watch: Future Islands
One of the biggest acts to emerge from South by Southwest earlier this month in Austin, Texas, was Future Islands. Even before that, the synth-pop trio was making big buzz for their performance of “Seasons (Waiting on You)” on “Late Show with David Letterman.” Samuel T. Herring’s soulful singing (think of a growling Van Morrison) and serpentine dancing earned Letterman’s awe-struck approval. Luckily, their show Saturday at The Aquarium, 226 Broadway, Fargo, was booked before they blew up. With their latest album, “Singles,” just released on Tuesday, it’ll be a while before they play such an intimate space. Tickets for this ID-only show are $10 in advance, $12 the day of the show, though fees may apply. Music starts at 9 p.m. with Ed Schrader’s Music Beat. (866) 300-8300.
