Name of man found dead on Fargo train tracks releasedFARGO – Police Saturday released the name of the 26-year-old man who was found dead Friday on the train tracks near the underpass of Main Avenue and University Drive.
Benjamin Gaffrey Knier, of Fargo, was found on the eastbound track about 4:20 p.m.
Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel said Friday police are still investigating the time of death and he suspects there was “another reason” the man was on the tracks at the time of the incident.
“There are a number of reasons why he’d be there,” Vettel said. “It certainly isn’t an area where people typically pass over just to cross on the railroad tracks, so chances are there was another ulterior motive for him to be there at the time of the incident.”
It has not yet been determined if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The Fargo Police Department is still investigating the incident.
