Marquart earns achievement award

Steve Marquart, an agent for Farmers Insurance Group, Fargo, has achieved the Farmer’s Topper Club award.

He earned the recognition for his sales performance in personal lines new business in 2013.


HBA elects 2014 board of directors, officers

The Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead has elected officers to its 2014 board of directors. Those elected include:

Carlita Dietz, Jay Dietz Construction, president; Clay Dietrich, Dietrich Homes, president-elect; Tom Spaeth, Accent Contracting, treasurer; Terry Lipp, Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Showroom, associate vice president; John Koerselman, Red River Drywall & Painting Services, secretary; and Darrick Guthmiller, Kochmann Brothers Homes, past president.

Lipp was elected to serve a second three-year term. Spaeth and Todd Rasmussen, Valley Lights, previously completed partial terms for open board positions and were elected to their own first term for 2014.

Members Dawn Cruff, RHR Construction, and Dustin Murray, Dustin Murray Construction, were elected to the board for a first term.


AGC of ND elects officers for 2014

The Associated General Contractors of North Dakota has elected officers for 2014. Those elected include:

Bob Sween, Gowan Construction, Oslo, Minn., president; Glenn Moen, Mattson Construction, Minot, senior vice president; and Wayne Lauwers, Dawson Insurance, Fargo, secretary/treasurer.


Counseling association hands out awards

The North Dakota Counseling Association has presented awards to outstanding counselors from throughout the state.

The award recipients include:

- Gaylynn Becker, Mandan, Outstanding Mental Health Counselor;

- Stacey Eskelson, Rickard Elementary School, Williston, Elementary School Counselor of the Year;

- Melissa Wahlin, Horizon Middle School, Bismarck, Middle School Counselor of the Year; and

- Dolores Manson, Sheyenne Valley Career and Technical Center, Valley City, High School Counselor of the Year.

The association also awarded scholarships to Stephanie Gramlow and Justus Foss, who are pursing master’s degrees in a counseling field.


Business group names Stigen adviser of year

Nancy Stigen, a business education teacher at Minnesota State and Community College, Moorhead, has been named the Minnesota Business Professionals of America College Division Adviser of the Year.

She has been teaching for 24 years and has served as the chapter’s adviser since 1991.

Stigen plays an active role on the local, state and national levels and serves as treasurer on the Minnesota BPA board of directors.

She received the award for her dedication to BPA including organizing social, community service, public relations safety, marketing and recruiting, fundraising and other activities for her students and for preparing them for the workforce through the development and advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, technological and career skills.


Crop insurance group honors McGillis

Larry McGillis of MayPort Insurance and Realty, Mayville, N.D., received an appreciation award for outstanding service with the American Association of Crop Insurers.

He received the award for his service as board chairman from 2012-2014.


McCarthy achieves Top of the Table status

Angie McCarthy, a financial adviser with Ameriprise Financial, Fargo, has achieved Million Dollar Top of the Table status with the Million Dollar Round Table, the premier association of financial professionals.

McCarthy attained MDRT membership based on client service, adherence to a code of ethics, professionalism and involvement in at least one other industry association.


Johnson to be honored for 50 years of service

John Johnson will be honored for 50 years of service to G&M Lathing Contractors Inc. during an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 21. The business is located at 2741 Leahy Ave. S., Fargo.

Johnson started in the construction business as a plaster’s tender for various contractors in the Fargo area. He started working for G&M Lathing Contractors part time, hauling materials and building scaffolding, and in 1964 began working for the company full time.

He has since worked on many commercial drywall and lathing projects in the tri-state area.
